Penn Wood Paws--Tokens of Good Character
During the days ahead, we are going to be discussing character here at Penn Wood. A Penn Wood person of character is a good person, someone to look up to and admire. A Penn Wood person of character sets a good example for everyone and makes the world a better place. A Penn Wood person of character lives his or her life according to the Six Pillars of Character--- Trustworthiness Respect Responsibility Fairness Caring Citizenship. These pillars will be posted in your classrooms. Dr. Gacomis arranged to have pillars to be displayed in main hallway of our school. The pillar of the month is Respect. The word of the week is Considerate. When a person is considerate they think of other people and not just of themselves. Teachers and staff will be looking for considerate people over the coming weeks. Teachers can write a note on a Penn Wood Paw or contact Mr. Pearsall to let us know of someone being very considerate in their class. Mr. Pearsall then will work to further recognize these Penn Wood Good Character kids!!! Remember: Penn Wood Kids of Character demonstrate respect for everyone and are always considerate of other people. Character Counts!!! Why Elementary School Counselors? Elementary school years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skill necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, school counselors work as a team with the school staff, parents and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, school counselors can help all children achieve academic success. The professional elementary school counselor holds a master’s degree and required state certification in school counseling. Maintaining certification includes on-going professional development to stay current with education reform and challenges facing today’s students. |
